Activities of Professor Torsten Nygaard Kristensen’s research group
My main research focus is on
- understanding the genetic and physiological architecture of complex traits and on identifying mechanisms that constrain and enforce adaptation to stressful environments including warmer and more variable temperatures,
- conservation genetics and biodiversity research where I work on genetic/genomic characterization of endangered wild and domestic populations and on finding solutions to genetic challenges such as genetic drift and inbreeding, and
- apply quantitative genetic approaches, microbiome manipulation and physiological responses to optimize e.g. production of insects to be used for food and feed and control of pest species
